Last weekend, Jen and Dan tied the knot on the North Shore. They were married at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in N. Billerica and held their reception at the popular DiBurro’s in Ward Hill. The day featured a classic ride, a fainting bridesmaid, an unexpected wedding guest, and the biggest "drinks" I’ve ever seen.
Our day started at Jen’s parents’ house where Jen and the bridesmaids were preparing for the day. We were greeted by Jen’s dad Bob, who was a gracious host throughout the day. George went straight to work taking macro pictures of Jen’s beautiful dress, while Bob and I walked around the yard picking out the best spot for pictures. Before long, it was time for Jen to put the dress on and for George to leave to go and meet the guys at the church. I stayed to finish up the formal pictures with Jen, the ladies and her parents. Soon after, our transportation arrived. The bridesmaids, Jen’s mom and I would be traveling in a stretch Hummer, while Jen and her dad rode in a white antique 1932 Oldsmobile. What a car it was!
We arrived at St. Anne’s to find George snapping away as Jen and her dad rolled up. The church was packed full of guests excited to be a part of Jen and Dan’s special day. The ceremony quickly got underway. It was a very warm day and the church was at capacity. During the ceremony, one of the bridesmaids was overcome by the heat and faltered momentarily. Jen’s mom and dad were up in a flash and quickly aided the bridesmaid. She was fine after a moment and the ceremony continued on as planned. Nicely done Bob and Linda! After the ceremony, Jen and Dan spent some time greeting their guests outside of the church before sharing a bottle of champagne together in their classic ride. Off to DiBurro’s!
I had previously visited DiBurro’s during Jen and Dan’s pre-wedding consultation. I was immediately impressed with the gardens they created for photography as well as the overall level of pride the owners took in their facility. I never expected to actually meet one of the owners, but Dave DiBurro saw us wandering around and quickly came to our aide. He ushered us right into the empty room where the reception would be held and answered each question that was asked. On the wedding day, Bob DiBurro was our host for the evening and was just as kind. I was very impressed.
We shot the formal pictures in the garden by the gazebo and then Jen, Dan and I took a walk down behind the formal garden to a bit more secluded area. We took some great photos of them walking on a paved path through the woods. What a great spot! We then headed indoors to start the rest of the evening.
The wedding party was announced to the guests soon after and Jen and Dan shared their first dance. This was followed by toasts from the maid of honor and best man, as well as a greeting from Jen’s dad. Dinner, cake cutting and impromptu dancing quickly followed, while a jazz trio played in the corner.
To start the formal dancing, Jen danced with her dad and then Dan with his mom. Jen didn’t know what song her dad had picked for their dance, so he surprised her when he started singing in a perfect Kermit The Frog voice "Why are there so many songs about rainbows…" It was a special song from Jen’s childhood and was a special moment that night for Jen and her dad. Jen didn’t know that Kermit was on the guest list, but I have no doubt she enjoyed the surprise.
The DJs got the crowd out on the dance floor soon after and continued the party late into the evening. Along with the bride and groom, the rest of the wedding party did a great job of keeping the energy level high and dancing the night away.
George and I appreciate Jen and Dan giving us the opportunity to be with them on their wedding day. We had a great time!
