6-7-8, Eleven!

Party RideOur most recent wedding was more of an adventure than anything.

Andrea and Matt are a very personal couple and felt their wedding ceremony should reflect this view.  With a guest list of less than thirty people, they did just that.  And what an adventure this small group had.

The day started in Wrentham at Andrea and Matt’s place.  We arrived to see “Princess Shannon,” a large green “Party Ride” awaiting the wedding guests.  It’s destination – Provincetown!  The ride to Provincetown was a lot of fun.  The bride and groom made sure there was plenty to eat and drink for everyone.  As is the usual for a bus ride, the “rowdier” crowd rode in the back half of the bus, while the “relaxed” group sat in the front.  On such a hot day, it was nice to spend 2 1/2 hours on an air conditioned bus!  Our bus driver, Maria, even got us to our destination ahead of schedule.

Once in Ptown, Maria found a parking spot for the bus and Andrea and Matt got changed for the ceremony.  Matt was wearing a tux with a custom hat that Andrea ordered for him.  On the front, it said “Eleven,” which is their personal way of saying, “I love you!”  On the back was the date of the wedding.  Once Matt had his tux on and was out of sight, Andrea changed into her dress.  It was snow white with a touch of deep red around the top and bottom.  The tie in the back was also red.  The style was simple, but incredibly elegant and the deep red provided such a great contrast to the white.  Loved it!

Dune Top CeremonyOur next stop was Art’s Dune Tours, where our new chariots awaited our arrival.  This time, instead of one bus, we had four Suburbans ready to transport us out onto the sand dunes of the Cape Cod National Sea Shore.  The Suburbans are specially equipped (low tire pressure and a specialized tool kit just in case) to transport guests across the vastness of this magnificent area.  The Nat’l Sea Shore is over 44,000 acres in size and Art’s is one of the very few in town to have a permit to take people onto the dunes in motorized vehicles.  Each vehicle enjoyed a guided 30 minute tour of the dunes before racing up “Ant Hill” where the wedding ceremony would be held.

By the time the ceremony started, the weather couldn’t have been more perfect – yeah!!  The guests gathered atop the dune, enjoying the 360 degree view of nature’s beauty.  Matt was only allowed to look at about 180 degrees of the view until Andrea was escorted by her father to Matt’s location.  The minister conducted a brief but eloquent ceremony.  Andrea and Matt sealed the deal with a long embrace and a kiss, of course!

Our guides then took us to one of the local beaches for a sunset dinner.  And deliver they did!  The catered BBQ ribs and chicken were out of this world!  On top of that, the sunset was one for the books.  I think Andrea & Matt had to pay extra for that.

Sunset with Andrea and MattFollowing dinner and the formal pictures, the wedding guests were dropped off at the party bus for the trip home.  Andrea and Matt had selected a special song to dance to on the way home.  Bracing themselves with one arm and embracing each other with their other arm, they danced for several miles.  The rest of the trip had the entertainment provided by some guests who shall remain nameless.  Once we were back in Wrentham, the guests were invited in for wedding cake and drinks.

A unique wedding like this doesn’t come along that often.  George and I were privileged to be a part of the day and enjoyed shooting in new environments.  The best technical part of the day was that the weather cooperated.  The second best part was that we kept our cameras sand free.  Andrea and Matt – thanks for allowing us to be a part of the beginning of your adventure into marriage!  We had a blast!
