Nikkie & Dave’s Wedding
It’s one thing to shoot a wedding. It’s anotherto shoot a wedding for a photographer. Nikkie is a passionate and creative photographer. Her now husband Dave shares this passion with her. They enjoy shooting weddings together and Nikkie has done some wonderful high school senior portraits recently. Pressure? Nah, I don’t feel any pressure…at least that what I tried to tell myself.
One of the best parts of the day was the amount of familiar faces. Nikkie and her sister Patti, along with their friend Lindsay, were all bridesmaids at Nichole & Dougie’s wedding in June. Nichole was now one of Nikkie’s bridesmaids. It was great to walk into Nikkie and Dave’s apartment and be greeted by so many friendly smiles. Even more, Nikkie and Patti were wearing different colored dresses this time, so it made it that much easier to tell these adorable identical twins apart.
Nikkie and Dave selected Brewster Gardens in Plymouth, MA as the location for their ceremony. Their friends and family gathered around one of the park benches as Nikkie and Dave committed the rest of their lives to each other. Following the ceremony, we took full advantage of Brewster Gardens for the formals.
Knowing Nikkie’s style, I also recommended we stop at an old abandoned factory just across the street from their reception for a few more photos. When I showed the location to Nikkie and Dave just a week prior (it was an afterthought from the pre-wedding consultation), I could see Nikkie’s face light up with excitement as we walked around. We picked a spot that had some great textures and easy access. Once Nikkie was there with her white dress and Dave in his Class A uniform, it was apparent why this place was so perfect for these photos.
The reception was held at The Loring Center in Plymouth, MA. The venue was beautifully decorated with red roses and petals on every table. Dave’s dad and one of his friends accompanied Patti as she sang the song for Nikkie and Dave’s first dance. It was a great personal touch.
Thanks Nikkie and Dave for letting George and I celebrate your wedding day with you! We had a lot of fun and enjoyed the opportunity to be as creative as possible. Dave – we also want to thank you in advance for your service in the Army National Guard. Stay well.
