Lindsay and Ben’s Wedding
A family’s back yard may not be the first placesome people consider for their wedding venue. It may not even make the list. In Lindsay and Ben’s case, it was at the top of the list. But when you have a tent, a rocking band (or two), "presidential" outhouses, great food and a group of family and friends that are ready to party, it doesn’t really matter where you are…
George dropped me off at the home where Lindsay was getting ready and headed directly for Ben’s house. The ladies were in their usual state – some dressed, some working on make-up and a beautiful bride who was incredibly excited that her day had finally arrived. I hung her wedding dress in the family room window and got to work. The family dog kept a close eye on everything I did.
A neighbor was kind enough to offer his back yard for formals with the ladies. The wind following Hurricane Earl was pretty intense and we did our best to work with rather than against it. Before long, the limo arrived and it was time to go.
The ceremony was held at St. Mary’s in Wrentham. The Spanish-style architecture is fairly unique to this area. A stucco exterior, a red-tiled roof and exposed beams inside make you think you’re in Sante Fe rather than Wrentham. Father Chip resided over the ceremony. His affection for Lindsay and Ben was apparent through his many accolades.
Following the ceremony, we took care of the family and wedding party photos right next to the church. Then the real fun for us began.
We planned ahead of time to visit a local ice cream shop next to the town green. When we walked in, we were the only customers there and they gave us the royal treatment. The ice cream shop itself was decorated like a 1950’s ice cream parlor and had tons of neon lights and 1950’s era décor. Lindsay and Ben were given vanilla cones and took a seat for some photos. At the recommendation of the owner, they also shared a frappe (that’s a shake to you non-New Englanders) with two straws. We stepped outside for a few more photos in front of the store with the bright yellow Adirondack chairs. The owner "freshened up" the whip cream on the frappe and put another cherry on top. He was incredibly accommodating and kind.
Once we finished up the photos at the ice cream shop, we snapped a few more photos with Lindsay and Ben across the street in the town green. We then headed to Ben’s parents house where their guests were ready to start the party.
The wedding party was announced in and then the guests were treated to a kind of "Life and Times of Ben" presentation by Ben’s two brothers. The stories shared by these two guys gave us some of our best laughing out loud photos we’ve ever taken. People were crying they were laughing so hard.
Other highlights from the evening included a country line dance with ladies of the bridal party wearing cowgirl boots and hats, Ben playing the drums with his band (with most of his clothing on) and "Played Out" simply rocking some of the best 90’s hip hop songs. They knew exactly what the crowd wanted and that’s exactly what they gave them – one rocking party.
Lindsay and Ben – thanks for being simply you. We had way too much fun celebrating with you and your family and friends. We wish you all the best as you continue your lives together.

Lindsay had some fun playing in front of the camera. Her smile is just perfect!
The boys had some fun of their own with George.
I’m sure Father Chip was saying something nice about them at this point…he did that a lot…and for good reason!
I kinda like this shot a lot…
Seriously…doesn’t this look like Sante Fe?!
Another huge thank-you to the owner of Tootsies! If you’re ever shopping at the Wrentham outlets, wander up to Wrentham center and grab some ice cream!!
Let the party begin!
I have no idea…
I just happen to catch the lead singer in mid-air. Pretty sweet!
