Kara & Corey’s Wedding

I frequently get asked, "What’s your favorite wedding venue?" My response is usually something about the fact that what I remember more than a physical location is the experience I have in a particular place. Kara and Corey’s wedding at the Warwick Country Club is one of those experiences I won’t soon forget.

It was a beautiful day in Warwick, RI. The Warwick Country Club is situated right on the water, surrounded on two sides by nothing but ocean. One can even see the Newport Bridge in the distance. George and I arrived early enough to walk around the property one last time and capture a few detail shots before the wedding party arrived. Both the ceremony and reception would take place on the property.

Corey and the guys were the first to arrive. "I lost my tie." Corey stated when he saw me. Apparently in the process of switching hotel rooms that morning, Corey’s tie had gone missing. The good news is that he was able to find a color-appropriate replacement before arriving, but was still nervous that Kara would be less than pleased. Once the replacement tie was on, we took Corey and the guys out by the water to do some formals prior to the ladies’ arrival. George got some incredible shots of the guys on the stone jetty on the corner of the property.

Kara and the ladies arrived soon after. I snapped a couple of candids as well as a few portraits of Kara before we received word that it was time to start the ceremony. The guys headed outside on the green and the girls readied themselves in the clubhouse. Their guests were seated in rows of white chairs facing out toward the beautiful sailboat filled bay.

The ceremony was simply elegant. The sailboats in the background were a stark contrast to the Catholic churches in which we frequently find ourselves. The grass-covered center aisle was covered in pink rose petals. Kara and her dad soon walked through the petals to her awaiting groom. They exchanged vows and rings and then a kiss. The weather cooperated and gave Kara and Corey the ceremony for which they had hoped for many months.

We dug right into the formals after the ceremony. The landscape around us provided ample backdrops for the photos. We worked quickly to get through the group photos so we would have enough time to shoot with just Kara and Corey. Fortunately, everything worked out as planned.

It was not long before Kara, Corey and the rest of the bridal party were being announced into the reception. The couple was celebrated by friends and family from the moment they walked through the French doors into the reception. They danced their first dance as husband and wife. A toast was given in their honor and dinner was served.

As dinner was winding down, so was the sun. As planned, Kara, Corey and I went down by the water to snap a few photos of them as the sun set below the horizon. It was a gorgeous sunset and continued to get more beautiful by the minute. I was giddy.

The rest of the evening went by in the blink of an eye. The guests split their time between the dance floor and the outdoor patio on an evening that kept getting more perfect by the moment. Kara’s careful planning had paid off. She had the wedding of which she dreamed and had married the love of her life.

Kara and Corey – congratulations on your marriage! We hope the rest of your life together is filled with as many beautiful moments as your wedding day and then some! George and I truly enjoyed celebrating with you all and appreciate your willingness to include us in the festivities.
