Johanna & Joe’s Engagement Session
There are occasions when I feel it is necessary to pinch myself and make sure that my reality is actually that. After ten years of cubicle life, I still find myself wondering if I really did make the leap. Johanna and Joe’s engagement session was one of those occasions.
We met up on a Sunday evening at Duxbury Beach. If you follow my blog at all, you already know how much I love shooting there. I drove over Powder Point Bridge and parked. Johanna and Joe pulled right up next to me seconds later. They jumped out of the truck, both wearing black tops and khaki shorts and ready to shoot. We took a minute to catch up, talked about our game plan and then headed to the beach. The weather couldn’t have been more beautiful!
I took pictures of Johanna and Joe as they walked, talked and played along the ocean’s edge as the tide went out to sea. They jokingly pushed each other into the water and quickly lost feeling in their feet as the May ocean water took hold. But their smiles never dimmed.
We then tried a couple of new poses sitting on the beach. I draw inspiration from many places and had recently purchased my first Vogue magazine for such purposes (still a bit embarrassed about that). One shot I saw in the magazine was the inspiration for a shot I took with Johanna and Joe.
After that, we changed gears and Johanna and Joe changed clothes. I took a few pictures of her ring while they changed. Joe brought a shovel so they could spell out "Save the Date" in the sand. While Joe dug, I snapped a few portraits of Johanna. The light at this point was incredible!
As the sun dipped closer to the horizon, we shot under and around the bridge. I snapped one last photo before the sun set. Joe dipped Johanna and kissed her. We finished with a few more posed photos in the sand dunes before heading home.
Toward the end of the session Joe said to me, "I can’t thank you enough for tonight. For
someone who came in so skeptical, I was extremely surprised at how wonderful the session was!" Thanks Joe!
Johanna and Joe – I had a great time hanging out on the beach with you guys. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to stay out of the cubicle and live my dream! Looking forward to celebrating with you on your wedding day!
Such a fun series!
One of my favorites!
Love the simplicity of this one!
A bit more than a pearl in this shell…
The light was amazing as the sun went down!
Almost gone!
