Jen & Joe’s Wedding

The one thing that strikes me most about Jen is her quiet beauty.  In my interactions with her leading up to her and Joe’s wedding, she was always very laid back and soft spoken.  Wasn’t I surprised when she got on the dance floor and knew every lyric to every party song DJ Ramu played and danced to EVERY SINGLE ONE.  Totally awesome!

George and I arrived a bit early to the Commander’s Mansion.  We did a quick walking tour of the property to finalize our game plan for the outdoor wedding ceremony and formal photos.  The ladies were already upstairs getting ready and the guys arrived as we were heading back to the truck to get all our gear.  We followed them upstairs and got right to work.

The ladies readied in a formal Victorian room.  It was filled with pastels and soft lines.  The gents were across the hall in a room dominated by a massive oak wardrobe lining one whole wall.   We snapped a few getting ready photos and a handful of family formals with Jen and her family before the ceremony began.

The ceremony was held in a grassy area completely surrounded by a beautiful grape arbor.  What I loved is that you could actually walk the perimeter of the "garden" under the arbor like a tunnel.  An entrance on each end of the garden was the only access in and out.  A single tree provided shade within.

Jen and Joe stood before their family and friends in this beautiful setting to promise themselves to each other for the rest of their lives.  Father Nick kept the crowd attentive with his quick wit and sweet regard for the bridal couple.  As part of their ceremony, Jen and Joe formed a unity cross from two pieces of wood which lay on a small table.  I had never seen this tradition before and loved the beauty and simplicity of it.

Once the ceremony was finished, Jen and Joe exited the garden and greeting their wedding party and family.  It was at this point, I noticed the slight bit of sunshine that was still beaming through the trees on the western edge of the property.  George and I quickly moved that direction with Jen and Joe in order to take advantage of the gorgeous light.  We finished the formals with the wedding party and family on the front steps of the mansion just in time for a twilight shot with Jen and Joe right in front of the mansion.  It was time to party!

The wedding party was ushered upstairs so they could be announced into the reception.  Cheers filled the main foyer and the many rooms beyond as Jen and Joe made their entrance.

Once the party started, it didn’t stop.  Following the traditional parent dances, DJ Ramu cranked up the music and kept the dance floor completely packed the entire night.  Jen was right in the middle of the floor all night.  I was blown away by the transformation from the quiet and reserved bride-to-be I previously knew into a beautiful bride whose energy knew no limit on the dance floor and whose lyrical knowledge was unmatched.  I like those kinds of surprises!

Jen and Joe – George and I wish you all the best as you begin this new chapter in your lives!  We had a wonderful time participating in your wedding day.  Thanks for allowing us to be a part!

We could see that we had about two or three minutes of this beautiful light and we took full advantage of it.
