Cindy & Mike’s Engagement
George and I meet so many peoplewhen we shoot weddings. Our world gets smaller each time we shoot one. At a wedding this past January, I noticed a young couple ripping up the dance floor and just having a good ‘ol time. The guy was the bride’s brother Mike. He was dancing with his fiancé Cindy. I said to George, "Wouldn’t it be fun to shoot their wedding?" A couple of weeks later, I received an email from Cindy asking us to do just that. What a coincidence!!
I recently met up with Cindy and Mike for their engagement session at World’s End reservation in Hingham, MA. Since Alana hadn’t joined me for an engagement session previously, I brought her along to observe and shoot an alternate angle. World’s End is a property maintained by the Trustees of Reservations, a group dedicated to preserving…. The $5 entrance fee is worth every penny and helps the Trustees keep the property open to the public.
Cindy and Mike are outdoor enthusiasts and love to hike. This was the perfect location for their engagement session. We met up at the entrance and took a walk along one of the many carriage roads in the park. We snapped a few casual shots of Cindy and Mike walking along the road. We then found a great bench that was perfectly situated to back light the couple. With all the different poses we did, I think we used every inch of that bench. Another stop along the way gave us some incredibly dramatic light before the sun dipped behind the clouds.
We then headed along the water so we could incorporate the coast into the photos. Oh, and the Boston skyline just happened to be in the background as well…
We continued to walk and talk and shoot. Mike attempted to climb a tree. We decided not to shoot there. We found a great old piece of drift wood (practically a whole tree) and got some more shots there. I think it was at that point that I really felt like Mike and Cindy were totally comfortable and totally relaxed in front of the camera. Cindy just cuddled up with Mike and acted like they were sitting at home on the couch watching TV. Perfect!
Cindy and Mike – I can’t wait to shoot your wedding next spring and watch the two of you dance the day away. Thanks for sharing an afternoon stroll with Alana and I!
Perfect shot for a square crop
This is one of those pictures I could stare at for a long time
I just love wide-angle shots!
"Stay off our rock Jeff!!"
Love it!
I’m thinking they’re pretty relaxed by now…
Love the emotion in this shot
