As a photographer, I look for inspiration in many places. Fashion magazines (there goes my manhood), art galleries and other photographers’ websites are some of the most common places I find inspiration for my work. And I tend to draw different elements from each. Fashion magazines are great for posing and also provide great examples of things you will not see me wearing. The stuff I buy at the Banana Republic outlet is very rarely in GQ.
Among all the images I’ve seen, there was one photographer whose poses inspired me every time I looked at them. The photographer is a “kid” from my church and is now a college student studying photography. His name is Mark Elzey. He goes by CMYKcolours.
Mark has the ability to pose his clients/models in a way that maximizes their personalities. He finds the most creative ways to tell each individual’s story and draw the viewer in. Every time. His imagination never stops. I think if he had the option to literally eat and breath photography, he would. That’s how passionate he is. I love it.
I’m proud to have Mark interning with us here at Black Thumb Studio this summer. Keep an eye out – you may meet him at a wedding!
Here’s a sampling of his amazing work!!
