Kathy and I used to be coworkersat good ‘ol Putnam Investments. She ran the stock desk. I would drop by and distract her employees. She was kind enough to put up with me. When she called to book a family portrait, I was excited about seeing her again and meeting the rest of her family.
We met up on a Saturday morning at Houghton’s Pond in Canton, MA. I love this spot for family portraits because it has the feel of classic New England and it has a great playground for catching action shots of the kids (and adults too). We took a few shots on the stone wall by the pond and then a couple of quick action shots of the kids on the playground.
I think every photographer has a favorite spot for shooting. One of mine is just down the street from Houghton’s Pond. There’s a farm in the Blue Hills Reservation that has a beautiful gravel road flanked by huge old trees. I love taking pictures of people strolling down the lane, having natural conversations. So we did with Kathy’s family. To end the fun, I had them run back toward me. After seeing the pictures, Kathy commented, "Who would have thought the family running pictures would be our favorite!"
