Ali & Jesse’s Boston Wedding

I am amazed at the people I meet every day.  It’s one of the best parts of my job.  Photography may not make me a millionaire, but my clients and so many other folks I’ve met doing what I love bless me in so many ways a bunch of zeros never could.

Recently, I’ve had a string of encounters with people who have faced some true hardships in their lives.  Many of their stories are too personal for a blog, but each has a place in my heart.  And each person who has shared such a story helps me to see the light at the end of an incredible dark tunnel.  These people are so incredibly strong and make me stronger simply by sharing their stories with me.

One such couple in my life are Ali and Jesse.  After Ali lost her father to cancer, she lost her mother a year later – from a broken heart.  Jesse has also endured the loss of his father.  This all within a couple of years’ time. – three parents whose voices they would never hear again or be able to ask advice of or hug again.  I tear up every time I think about it.

Here’s the beautiful part of this story – Ali and Jesse went through this together.  They were by each other’s side the whole time.  They endured.  They cried.  They asked why.  But they did it all together.  That’s why their wedding – a celebration of them being together for the rest of their lives – was a true celebration.  A celebration of shared experiences.  A celebration of their love.  A celebration of the many blessings in their lives.  A celebration of things to come.

George and I, along with our good friend Matt Wood of Matt Wood Photography had the privilege of being a part of Ali and Jesse’s wedding celebration last month in Boston.  Their ceremony was at the beautifully ornate Our Lady of Victories church in Boston and reception was at the State Room.  I’ve never seen a more lovely view of Boston (or any other city for that matter) from a wedding venue.  It seemed fitting to me that the beauty of the people in the room that night matched the beauty of the view.

Ali and Jesse – you two have a special place in my heart and you always will.  Thank you for showing me what true beauty is.
