Lee and I met in high school. We actually had most of our classes together at good ‘ol SHS (Somerville High School). We were nerds. Or geeks. Well, at least I was. She was definitely cooler than me. She played sports. I was still trying to figure out what those were in Science Club.
We hadn’t seen each other in years – about 10 to be precise. Our 10th reunion was coming up, but I knew I wasn’t going to be there and a few other people weren’t available that date either, so we decided to get together on our own. We met up in our old stomping grounds – Davis Square in Somerville at Johnny D’s. Lee, Robin, Dianna, Amanda, Heather, a few others and myself were there. Ten years. How time flies!!
How excited was I when a short time later when Lee contacted me to let me know she was engaged and wanted George and I to shoot her and Chad’s wedding. I never would have predicted that my senior year in high school!
Lee and Chad are both in the medical field and work for a large institution in Boston. Now Lee’s job is a bit unique. She manages cadaver donations for a medical school. That’s where she and Chad met. No, he wasn’t being donated. Chad was clearly head over heels in love with Lee as he mentioned in his vows (I’m paraphrasing), “I knew what kind of day I was going to have when I would get off the elevator on the second floor, step around the corner and look at the door to Lee’s office. If it was open, I knew she was there and my heart jumped. If it was closed, I knew she wasn’t and my heart would hope to find here there later.”
It seemed appropriate that we take their engagement photos in the area around where they met. Lots of great architecture and a small park was the perfect backdrop. They even brought their awesome golden retriever along.
Lee and Chad had their wedding at the classic New England venue – the Publick House in Sturbridge, MA. We found a great little spot out back for their reveal and then used the rest of the beautiful landscape for photos with the rest of the wedding party. They had their ceremony in the main room of the venue. Lee’s moss aisle runner brought a bit of the outdoors in. So did their cake decorated with snakes and other little creatures.
The reception was a blast. The DJ played everyone’s favorites from the early 90’s. Lee and Chad partied with their friends and families the whole night.
Lee and Chad have been married for just over a year now and are already expecting their first child. Looking forward to watching their family grow!!
