There’s a lot more to this story than simply a beautiful wedding. Thankfully, Tiffany and David’s wedding is just the most recent chapter to this story. And it’s personal – fair warning.
My wife and I have attended the same church for the past 16 years. We were married there 15 years ago this July (yes, I’m older than I look). In 2004, there was a prayer request shared for a guy named Steve who was looking for a kidney donor. I’m sorry to say that at that time, that is about all I knew of him. Long story short, I felt that I should be tested and donate if I could. I went through a battery of tests that concluded I was a match. On July 5, 2005, I gave Steve one of my kidneys through the miracle of modern medicine.
Little did I know that that event would alter my life from there on out in such a positive way. Steve, his lovely wife Donna and their two daughters, Jeannie and Tiffany, are family to me now. They have been – for over eight years.
George and I were fortunate enough to photograph Jeannie and Don’s wedding in the Fall of 2007. When I found out that Tiffany was getting married this Spring, I was elated! And when she and David asked us to be the photographers, we were thrilled!
The wedding day itself couldn’t have been more perfect. Tiffany and David were married in the same church as Dorothy and I and then had their reception at the Barker Tavern in Scituate, MA. We stopped along the North River and then at Scituate Light for photos before joining their guests at The Barker. The guests included four couples whose weddings we had previously photographed – a first for us and a little overwhelming (in a good way)!
Having a daughter of my own and being the emotional being I am, I tend to tear up pretty frequently during the father/daughter dance. I’m usually pretty good at hiding it behind the camera. As I watched Steve dance with Tiffany, I was overwhelmed with emotion.
Tiffany – your smile and beautiful personality outshine all the lighthouses in the world! I am so happy you and David found each other because you deserve the absolute best. David – she couldn’t have done any better. Simply being in the same room with the two of you makes it obvious to anyone that you are such a wonderful fit for each other. I’m thankful that God brought the two of you together.
