There are very few people I laugh with as muchas I laugh with Alison and Marcelo. Their interactions with each other and the world around them should be captured on film regularly. They have a way of making those around them feel completely comfortable in about 30 seconds. I think their secret is that they can laugh at themselves…and me.
We arrived at the Four Seasons Hotel in Boston where Alison, Marcelo and their entourage were getting prepared for the big day. George waited in the lobby for Marcelo and the guys while I headed up to find Alison. Allison’s room was full of bridesmaids, dress bags, shoe boxes and plenty of other wedding paraphernalia – just the way it should be.
George was across the street in the public gardens with the guys while I worked on dress details and snapped candids of the final preparations. What Alison didn’t know was that Marcelo had a little surprise for her. He had given Alison’s sister a small bag with two little blue boxes in it that said “Tiffany & Co.” Need I say more? Marcelo is a classy guy. Alison did her best to fight back the tears as she opened each one. It was a perfect moment.
Once the guys finished up across the street, they hid Marcelo away in his room and the ladies and I headed out to the gardens. We did the formals with the swan pond as our backdrop. We noticed a one-man-band performing off to the side and at the end of the photos, I asked Alison to go dance next to him. What I didn’t know at that time was that George had the guys take a photo with the same guy. Go figure…
Alison and Marcelo’s ceremony was held at the absolutely beautiful St. Mary’s church in Dedham, MA. This cathedral of worship has become a familiar place to us. The light streaming in the side windows the day of Alison and Marcelo’s wedding was simply wonderful. Alison and her dad made their way down the aisle. Marcelo stood at the front – holding back the tears.
Following the ceremony, we snapped a few photos in front of the church with family and then hopped on the trolley. We were dropped off in front of the Four Seasons and walked across the street to the Public Gardens to finish off the formal photos.
The reception started soon after. Alison and Marcelo were toasted by friends and we snuck them out of the room immediately after so we could catch the twilight shot Alison wanted so bad on the grand staircase. The timing couldn’t have been better.
The rest of the evening was pure fun. Marcelo let his extraverted personality take over the dance floor. Alison could only watch and laugh. Their nephew snapped away with our Kid Cam and grabbed some fantastic candids of family and friends. The DJ kept the music cranked and the dance floor moving the rest of the night.
Alison and Marcelo – we had a wonderful time celebrating your wedding day with you! Thank you so much for the opportunity! Wishing you both many years of laughter and love!
