I met Bryan at my former place of employment. He always struck me as a quiet and private individual, but there was something in the way he greeted me that made me feel like he was an old friend. When I met Laura a few years later, I knew Bryan had found his yang. Warm and bubbly with tons of freckles, she won me over the minute I met her. She and Bryan complimented each other perfectly. When I found out that Bryan had proposed and that Laura had said “Yes!” I was so excited for them. And when they asked me to shoot their wedding, I couldn’t wait!
We arrived at the hotel where everyone was getting ready. They guys were dressed and the ladies were well on their way. George and I did some quick detail shots before Laura put her dress on. We then sent Bryan out to the courtyard to await Laura’s arrival for the reveal.
While their family and friends watched from the lobby windows, Laura and Bryan shared a special moment as they embraced for the first time on their wedding day. Bryan looked old-school gangsta with his slick black hair, pocket watch and black tux. Laura looked like a mythical goddess with her flowing red hair and lacy dress. After they shared a kiss and another look, their wedding party and family joined them for photos.
After snapping photos here, there and everywhere around the hotel, the wedding party hopped into the limo for a short ride to Independence Harbor.
The ceremony was held out doors on the beautiful grounds of Independence Harbor. Their grounds are some of the most well-kept as far as wedding venues (or any other venue for that matter) go. The flower beds always have something in bloom and the lawn is always perfect. It is such a pristine setting for a wedding ceremony.
Once the ceremony was finished, we did family photos, a few more silly photos with the wedding party, and finally finished with a few more of just Laura and Bryan.
We had the privilege of working with one of our favorite DJs, Michael O’Neill. He’s one of the best and knows how to keep a party going. Michael announced the wedding party into the room and moved right into Laura and Bryan’s first dance.
The celebration continued throughout the night. The wedding party toasted the newlyweds, Laura and Bryan visited their guests at each table as George and I photographed their rings. A little later, they fed each other cupcakes. These weren’t your mom’s cupcakes either. Jenna Cakes makes the most fabulous looking (and tasting) cupcakes. Flavors like Boston Cream, Oreo and Key Lime merely scratch the surface.
A little later in the evening, we were able to sneak outside with Laura and Bryan for a few nighttime photos. Our Sima video lights in hand, we got creative and tried some lighting we hadn’t done before. The image at the top of this blog is the result.
Laura and Bryan – thank you for giving George and I the opportunity to share in your wedding celebration. We had a wonderful time being “fancy” with you all!
