Sometimes we have an experience that we’ll never forget – an experience thatwe would love to have over and over on a wedding day. Simply put – that was Katie and Anthony’s wedding.
We arrived at Katie’s parents’ home where all the ladies were getting ready. The second we walked through the door, we were greeted with a shout of "I’M GETTING MARRIED!!" Yup, I think you could say that Katie was excited. She looked stunning even without her wedding dress on. And to say the least, she was ready to put her dress on and get married.
George and I quickly worked on details of the dress and Katie’s accessories. The bottom of her shoes were adorned with the blue letters "I DO". Her matching bracelet and earrings were something to behold. "I like bling!" she told me. I laughed in agreement. George finished up the details and then headed off to Anthony’s place. I stayed at the house with the ladies.
We headed out into the back yard and did our best to stay cool in the heat. We were able to stay in the shade most of the time for the group photos. I only had Katie in the sun at the end of the shoot so I could backlight her veil in the afternoon sun. The sun was also reflecting off her parents’ white house and lit her face beautifully. I LOVE great light and having such a great subject to photograph in such conditions makes it that much more fun!
The trolley showed up soon after. We found out that Anthony had taken some extra time to do his hair that morning and was running a bit behind schedule. The guys were finally able to corral him and get him to the church. Katie, on the other hand, was ready early. She was only delayed by Anthony’s desire to look his best for her.
The trolley took us to Our Lady Help of Christians in Newton, MA. The large cathedral rivals similar churches in Europe for its beauty. The guests were seated and the procession began shortly after our arrival. Anthony couldn’t hold back the tears as Katie and her dad approached.
The cantor’s voice filled the church as she sang "Ave Maria" and other traditional songs. Communion was served and vows exchanged. It was official – they were married!
Katie and Anthony greeted their guests at the back of the church and then we snapped a few photos just outside the church before heading to Boston.
The reception was held at the Colonnade in Boston. The roof-top pool is one of the coolest places in Boston for cocktail hour. Period. And the area around the Colonnade has plenty of opportunities for formal photos. While the guests arrived and made their way to the roof, we took the wedding party and families across the street for photos. In a death-defying attempt for a great photo, we did our best to get a picture of the entire wedding party in one of the crosswalks. After one failed attempt, we got one the second time around. Amazingly enough, we all survived.
The reception was held in the main ballroom at the Colonnade. DJ Dan McCarthy was the emcee for the evening. On occasion, a Sunday wedding can be a bit more tame than a Friday or Saturday night event so we weren’t sure what to expect. Well, our uncertainty was short lived as the guests were up dancing during dinner. As soon as DJ Dan picked up the tempo after dinner and Anthony’s dad started dancing like John Travolta, we knew it was going to be an awesome night – and it was! Katie and Anthony partied with their friends and family to the very last. It was hard for us to keep up! We like it like that!
Katie and Anthony – we had an absolute blast! We loved working with you both and think the world of you guys! We wish you many years of success and unending love for each other. Congrats on an amazing wedding!

Katie had some serious "bling"
I think it is fair to say Katie was excited about getting married.
Hello Katie!! Perfect combo of great light and an amazing subject!
One of my favorites of the day.
Our Lady’s is absolutely beautiful.
Somehow, none of us died.
LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. Fierce!
The family’s bulldozer mailbox served as the card box. Totally original!
Twilight was fantastic that night! And what a location!
The next two photos pretty much explain how the whole night went. Out. of. Control.
Our end of the night shot in the men’s bathroom. The wallpaper was just too amazing to pass up.
