I love people. I always have. I’m fortunate to have a job in which I meet people from every walk of life. I meet introverts, extraverts, people who love having their picture taken and people who don’t. Nurses, steel mill workers, small business owners, police officers, fire fighters, teachers, CEOs, priests and many more. In spite of all the people I’ve met so far, I’ve never met a couple quite like Shaley and Jon. And that’s exactly what I love about them. They’re totally unique. Totally.
Shaley and Jon met at The Burren in Davis Square and within minutes (according to reports from the Best Man), it was pretty apparent they liked each other. I guess you could say it really was love at first sight. What drew the two of them together? I could only imagine Jon was drawn to Shaley’s beautiful eyes and killer smile and Shaley to Jon’s incredibly extraverted and humorous personality.
The very first time I met Shaley and Jon, I knew their wedding was going to be a blast. Jon is probably one of the most extroverted people I’ve ever met and has a way of making everyone he’s around feel like you’ve been his best friend for years. Shaley had some wonderful plans in mind for the wedding day and simply wanted it to be casual and "fun." This past Friday, it all came together.
George and I arrived at Harrington Farm in Princeton, MA around 3:00 p.m. The venue staff were the only other people there. The Videographer, Russell Smithe, of Mavid Productions, arrived just a few minutes after us. George and I always look forward to working with Russell. Not only is he a consummate professional, he has become a good friend.
Jon was the first to arrive. Shaley pulled up soon after. We hid Jon out on the back patio so they wouldn’t see each other until the reveal. Shaley and the ladies went upstairs to make final preparations. It wasn’t long before we put Jon on the porch to await his bride’s reveal. The series of photos we have of that interaction are some of our favorites from the day.
Shaley and Jon chose to do the majority of their formals prior to the ceremony. I got all the big group shots done and then George and I split the guys and girls up to finish the formals. We chose to shoot with just Shaley and Jon following the ceremony before they joined their friends for the remainder of cocktail hour.
The ceremony was outside in the lower part of the lawn on a flagstone patio. Meredith, the florist, had decorated the arbor with beautiful purple hydrangeas to compliment the dark purple Calla Lilies that Shaley carried and the purple dresses the bridesmaids wore. The guests were seated in white chairs and guitar music filled the air.
Following the ceremony, we did one last picture with the wedding party. The hill in front of Harrington Farm’s inn was the perfect place for the wedding party to run…literally. I asked all the ladies to take off their shoes and then spread the group across the top of the hill. After two takes, we had what we needed and no one fell! We took a few more photos with just Shaley and Jon and then snapped candids for the rest of cocktail hour.
DJ Greg Bedard introduced the wedding party into the reception. Following some very funny and telling toasts from the Maid of Honor and Best Man, we snuck Shaley and Jon outside for a quick twilight picture. Not much later, Shaley joined her step dad Steve on the dance floor followed by Jon and his mom Donna.
The rest of the evening featured dance-offs, cigars on the patio, cupcakes, a dessert bar, and non-stop action on the dance floor. Shaley gave me the "Watch out" warning when Greg started playing "Sure Shot" by the Beastie Boys and the groomsmen went nuts. Nuts. Yeah, we love that kind of stuff because it is so much fun to photograph.
Shaley and Jon – we had SO MUCH FUN with you guys. I can’t remember the last time I laughed so much. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to share in your wedding day. The two of you were made for each other! We wish you many years of laughter and love!

Shaley and Jon chose to see each other before the ceremony. It was such an awesome moment!
This picture just makes me laugh every time.
And this one makes me dizzy.
I asked the groomsmen to do their best imitation of the groom. Well, um, I guess they did…
Then things just went downhill…or maybe just down.
Love this candid!
This little guy had the best laugh and his dad could really get him going.
Shaley watched out the window while the guests took their seats.
It was a beautiful day for a wedding!
LOVE this!
Favorite from the day!
The post-production on this shot is so cool!
Seriously, who would mess with these two??!!
Shaley and Jon were both so animated. These are all from during the toasts.
George always gets the best father/daugther dance shots!
And twilight! Kinda like this one a lot too…
