What is tradition? My wife’s familyseems to have many traditions. I’ve learned in the eleven years that I’ve been married that if I ask why her family does something in particular, the response is usually, "because it’s tradition."
Thirty years ago, Angela’s parents were married at St. Mary’s in Foxboro, MA. They had their reception at Lake Pearl Luciano’s. Mark’s brother had his wedding reception at Lake Pearl Luciano’s several years ago. On this September Saturday, it would be Angela and Mark’s turn. They would share wedding vows at St. Mary’s in Foxboro and have their reception at Lake Pearl Luciano’s. Angela even brought her mother’s wedding album to their pre-wedding consultation so we could plan a few similar photos. What a unique opportunity!
The day of the wedding, George dropped me off where the ladies were getting ready and he headed off to meet up with the guys. It’s usually pretty easy for me to gauge what kind of party it will be at the reception based on the bridesmaids. I immediately realized that this was a FUN group of ladies and had no doubts that the party would be hopping later.
After the ladies helped Angela into her dress, they presented her with a scrapbook full of all of their memories together leading up to this day. Angela did an amazing job of not crying. She was doing her best to hold it together.
The limo pulled up in front of St. Mary’s. I quickly jumped out, found George and got my bearings. I also checked in on Mark. He was anxiously waiting for the ceremony to begin. It went off without a hitch. Angela’s tears started flowing as her dad walked her down the aisle. Mark was standing at the front of church. I kind of got the feeling that he was holding himself back from running up the aisle to Angela and embracing her. You could see the anticipation on his face. It was great.
Following the ceremony, we decided to take full advantage of the quickly fading daylight. Instead of heading directly to Lake Pearl for formals, we went right around the corner to the commons in Foxboro. The park was a perfect spot for the formals and gave us the opportunity to get the majority of the formals done in daylight. Yeah!
Once we arrived at Lake Pearl, we finished the formals, including an amazing twilight shot of Angela and Mark. We even had time to take some portraits of the wedding party and their "significant others."
The rest of the night flew by. DJ Alex introduced the wedding party, Angela and Mark had their first dance, dinner was served, cake was cut and people had a simply wonderful time. One of the highlights of the night was when Angela and Mark dedicated a song to Angela’s parents and presented them with a cake in celebration of 30 years of wedded bliss. It was a beautiful moment. Yup, Angela cried. I think that’s a tradition too.
Congratulations to Angela and Mark! You had a wonderful wedding day and we are so glad we were able to share in the celebration.
