So the story, as I recall Courtney and Joe telling me,is that they met one night at a bar, but not in the usual manner. Courtney was working for a promotions company and was traveling to a different location each night. She and Joe struck up a conversation. He found out that she would be going to a new location the next night in Malden, where he grew up. She was concerned about finding the place. He told her that he grew up in the area and happily gave her directions. He also gave her his number and told her to give him a call if she got lost.
The next night, Courtney was en route to the bar in Malden. Based on the directions Joe gave her, she got lost. She pulled into a gas station and called him. He said he knew where she was and would be right over to meet her. She followed him to the bar and he stayed the whole night to be her "body guard." The rest is history. I should mention that Joe admitted after the fact that he gave Courtney the wrong directions in hopes that she would call him when she didn’t find the place. Well done Joe, well done!
If I could use one word to describe Courtney and Joe’s wedding day, it would be fun. During our pre-wedding consultation, we walked into the Hayden Lodge at the Warren Center and instead of saying "This is where our reception will be," Courtney said, "This is where we’re having our party." That was a good indication to me of what kind of wedding it would be.
The day of the wedding, George and I split up before the ceremony to work with the guys and the ladies. When we caught up with each other later, we were both full of funny stories to share with each other and a TON of great pictures.
The wedding ceremony was held on the lawn next to the Hayden Lodge. White chairs and a white arbor provided a simple yet elegant look to the ceremony. The guests sat shaded by fir trees as Courtney and Joe exchanged vows.
Following the ceremony, we took the family and the wedding party up by a red barn on the property for the formal pictures. What a great spot! It was such a perfect representation of New England and everyone had fun with the photos and gave us the opportunity to be creative. We also had ample time to work with just Courtney and Joe when we finished the group photos. Considering the fact that they could both be models (yeah, you too Joe!), this was a true pleasure for me and George.
The rest of the evening was just as we expected – fun! DJ Michael O’Neill played a great mix of current dance hits as well as some great old school music. The crowd loved it!
Courtney and Joe – thanks for giving us another great wedding experience. We had an incredible time working (I have a hard time calling it work) with you and your guests. We wish you many, many years of love and fun!
