Ashley and Wayne’s Wedding
It’s ironic to me how many companies have policies about workplace relationships and how ineffective those policies seem to be. I understand the idea that when things go bad, it can definitely get ugly. But where else do you have an opportunity to get to know so many people in a safe and friendly environment? Then again, maybe it is such a policy that makes it possible to build a friendship. Take Ashley and Wayne for example. If it wasn’t for their shared workplace, they probably would have never met and I wouldn’t be writing this blog.
They day of Ashley and Wayne’s wedding, I arrived at The Villa in East Bridgewater as the DJ was loading in. No one from the wedding party was on site yet. George was with the guys in Norwood and the ladies were arriving a bit later. I got right to work on any details I could find.
While I was working, the ice sculptor came in and set up the ice luge. It was one large block of ice with a funnel in the top. From the funnel, a tube spiraled down to the bottom of the ice block. Frozen within the ice – as if they were floating – were a number of martini glasses and lemon slices. He then turned on a light at the base that lit up the sculpture. I was awestruck.
"I’ve never seen anything like that!" I said to the gentleman setting it up.
"That’s what most people say." he responded.
That set the tone for the day. Ashley and Wayne’s love for "different" and "bold" were already apparent. I continued to shoot details (including the ice luge of course) while I awaited the ladies’ arrival.
Ashley and the ladies eventually arrived followed soon after by Wayne and the guys. I snapped candids as the ladies finished getting ready. George kept the guys busy outside.
The guests continued to trickle in. It wasn’t long before everyone was in place and ready for the ceremony to begin. Wayne led the procession of men to the gazebo. The ladies followed suit. Ashley beamed as she walked down the aisle with her parents. Wayne smiled at her in adoration.
The brief ceremony was followed by family and wedding party formals right next to the ceremony site. After we finished those, we jumped into a golf cart with just Wayne and Ashley and headed out to a bridge on the golf course. The sun had just set and the light was gorgeous! We finished up the formals with a quick twilight shot before Ashley and Wayne were announced into their reception.
The function room where the reception was held has a very modern look to it, which is why Ashley fell in love with it the very first time she visited the Villa. The bold magenta uplighting and large dance floor foreshadowed a great dance party.
The cake cutting was one to remember. Wayne fed Ashley first and was a true gentleman – well, mostly. Ashley had no intention of responding in kind and nailed Wayne square in the face with a handful of cake and icing. He started laughing immediately and so did Ashley. They cleaned up a bit and finished with a kiss.
The rest of the evening was quite the scene. Ashley and Wayne both changed into Converse sneakers so they could dance the rest of the night in style and comfort. Ashley’s good friend Jocelynn (I’ll refrain from sharing her nickname here) put on quite a show and literally had Ashley rolling on the floor in laughter. Everyone had a great time, including the guys who carried the ice luge out the door at the end of the night. If I could have been a fly on the wall for that after-party. . .
Wayne and Ashley – thanks for giving us the privilege of sharing in your celebration of marriage. We had a great time celebrating with you all and wish you all the best as you continue the journey together. May your Converse sneakers take you on journeys you never expected!

The Villa has some fantastic furniture and decor!
George’s fantastic shot and edit of the guys…
Such a great moment!
Clearly, they didn’t want to have any fun (where’s that sarcasm font?)
George snagged a close-up of Ashley and Wayne. Makes me laugh every time!
Definitely a favorite spot at The Villa!
The first twilight shot.
The lighting in the room was SO cool!
Ashley had serious "ups"!
Oh Jocelynn, how you made me laugh…
over and over…
End of night shot with Ashley and Wayne. Love the simplicity of this shot.
