Ashley and Wayne’s Engagement
Sometimes you’re fortunate enough to meet the love of your life well before you know you will spend the rest of your life with that person. Other times, it’s many years before you meet the "one." Even still, there are some out there that may have that feeling that they will never find someone to spend the rest of their lives with. Deep in my heart, I want to believe that everyone has a soul mate somewhere in the world. I hope that’s true.
For Ashley and Wayne, it was a friendship which began in the workplace that turned into romance. As a kid, Wayne had spent many of his summers in the mountains of New Hampshire. Ashley spent many of her summers on the beaches of Newport, RI. But like they say, opposites attract.
I had the opportunity to work with Ashley and Wayne for their engagement session last month. We decided to meet in Newport. Although it was late in the season, we were all hoping for a little fall color and some warm-ish weather. We got both.
The session started on the property where Ashley had spent so many of her summers. It was a former carriage house that had been renovated into a wonderful summer "cottage" as they say. I noticed the property had a nice wide open yard and made mention of my observation. Ashley responded, "I know. I wanted to have my wedding in a tent here, but because of my bad luck, I know it’s going to rain on our wedding day." Well Ashley, I’ve got my fingers crossed that it doesn’t.
The next thing I noticed was that a few of the trees on the property still had leaves on them. Yeah! We would be able to get those fall colors after all! We spent quite a while on the property before moving on.
Our next stop was right along the shore with a view of Newport Bridge in the background. Our timing couldn’t have been more perfect. Right as I started shooting, a whole group of sailboats came racing into the scene between Ashley and Wayne and the bridge. Perfect!
Our last stop was in downtown Newport. We walked around for as long as we could without turning into popsicles. As soon as the sun set, the temperature dropped about ten degrees and we were done. We had just enough time to capture a variety of settings without getting frost bite. Gotta love New England!
Ashley and Wayne – thanks for sharing a chilly fall afternoon with me. I had a great time exploring Newport with you guys and am looking forward to your wedding next year!
