Kerri & Matt’s Wedding
I first met Kerri WAY back in the daywhen we worked together at Putnam Investments in one of their call centers. By the time I arrived, Kerri was a Senior Participant Services Representative. Titles always make me laugh. Oh, I guess I’m the President of Jeff Turner Photography. How dumb does that sound? But I digress…
The title that matters to me is "friend." Kerri is an incredibly thoughtful and caring friend. That’s what counts in my book. We somehow managed to stay in touch after she left Putnam. We even had separate apartments in the same house at one point. And then I left Putnam to go to CitiStreet. Guess who was already there…yup, Kerri! She’s always been around to make me laugh and stick her tongue out at me.
When Kerri called me with the news that she and Matt were engaged and wanted to find out when I could shoot their wedding, I was elated! We picked a date and that was that.
The day of the wedding, George met Matt at his hotel in Plymouth. I went to Kerri’s parents’ house in Norton. It was a perfect fall day. While the ladies took care of makeup, I took Kerri’s dress, shoes, purse, jewelry, and anything else I could find outside to photograph. I hung her dress in a tree, making sure not to get a spot on the white dress or periwinkle tails. The yellow maple leaves provided a beautiful backdrop for the photos.
The limo soon arrived and whisked the bridal party off to Monponsett Inn. Upon arrival, Kerri put her dress on and quickly dug into the ladies formal photos. Matt was kept at bay until the ceremony. While the ladies put some finishing touches on just before the ceremony, I snuck in a few pictures of Kerri’s adorable nieces. Serious cuteness.
The ceremony was held at the gazebo on the grounds of Monponsett. The white chairs silently sat in rows as the wind swept through the gazebo. The ceremony began. Matt and his brother escorted their mother to her seat. The rest of the wedding party followed. The procession finished with Kerri and her dad walking arm-in-arm to Matt. As they approached Matt, Kerri’s dad jokingly (I think) shook his fist and growled at Matt before smiling and shaking his hand.
Following the ceremony, we took full advantage of the scenic lake and the foliage that surrounded it for Kerri and Matt’s formal photos.
The reception was held in Monponsett’s function room. Kerri and Matt had worked hard during their ballroom dance lessons in order to share a beautiful first dance with their guests. Their hard work paid off. As Matt led Kerri around the dance floor, their guests applauded and cheered their performance.
The remainder of the evening was filled with laughter, dancing and great music. DJ Vick kept the dance floor hopping. I even had the privilege of sharing a slow dance with my wife Dorothy who was in attendance as a guest. That was definitely a special moment for us.
Kerri and Matt – I wish you both all the best and am so happy you found each other. Thanks for giving George and I the chance to share such a wonderful day with you both! And Kerri – thanks for always being a great friend!
